IATA/FIATA CARGO INTRODUCTORY COURSE

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the world organization of scheduled airlines, founded in 1945 which is concerned with the development regulation of air transportation industry.

The IATA / UFTAA International Cargo Agents Training Program was commence in 1977 to meet the growing demand for trained staff in cargo agencies. The IATA / FIATA International Cargo Agents diploma has gained worldwide industry recognition as a quality qualification, key for anyone who wishes to make a career in the air cargo forwarding business.

The IATA / FIATA program is basically self study course, but is also offered as regular course by training establishments known as “Authorized Training Centers” or ATCs, who are qualified to prepare the students for the IATA / FIATA examinations.

Who can enroll?

  • Anybody who needs to make a career in the travel / air cargo industry.
  • Staff who are already in the these fields and who wish to improve their knowledge and competence
  • Staff of large companies who deal with travel / cargo arrangements.
  • Basic requirement:
  • Successfully completed Secondary school or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of written English, World Geography and Basic Mathematics.
  • Application and enrollment procedures:

GAA takes care of all measures related to application, enrollment and supply of the study kit. Just fill in the application form and hand it over along with the bank draft of the fee applicable, to us. GAA will send your application and remittance to the IATA Training Center at Montreal. GAA will follow up on your application and get your training kit and Exam receipt containing your PIN or Personal ID Number. You can also benefit of our intensive coaching to prepare for the examinations.

Examination Procedure:

The IATA / FIATA Cargo introductory course exams are held every year in April and October. Students must enroll at least three months prior to the examination. The exams must be taken within the registration period. The exam is conducted on one day only.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • O’ Level Certificate (WAEC, NECO, GCE)
  • Higher Certificate (OND,NCE,HND,BSc)
  • Excellent english skills and any other language.

 

RECOGNITION/CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The training program is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in travel and tourism industry as well as for junior travel consultants, airline personnel, tour operators who deal regularly with travel agents and travel agencies to meet one of the requirements towards becoming IATA accredited agencies.

 

CERTIFICATE AWARDED

The Foundation Level provides students with vast knowledge of the travel and tourism industry, the demonstration and experimentation of the travel professional’s role, the importance of meeting customer expectations as well the role of technology in the travel industry.

Upon successful completion of the examination, candidates will be qualified holder of the IATA/ UFTAA International Travel and Tourism Foundation Diploma and will be entitled to add the designation DTTF (Diploma in Travel and Tourism Foundations) after your name.
